Rewriting Your Journey (Phase 2- Restore)

Welcome back to this week’s blog post!

This week’s discussion is about Phase 2 of your chiropractic journey, the Restore Phase. During this phase, our focus is on restoring proper function and movement patterns. Think of your adjustment as “tuning” your body’s movement patterns to be as efficient as possible.

Chiropractic care is wonderful at getting people out of pain, but its true intended purpose is to be more proactive in nature, rather than reactive.

How long a person is in this phase has many determining factors, such as how long has your movement pattern been less than optimal (remembering that pain is felt long after your movement patterns have become less optimal)? Other outside factors will also play a role in your Restore Phase, i.e. your past medical history (surgeries, arthritic changes), your occupation, your stress levels, as well as your nutrition and supplementation.

During this phase, it is likely that you will be coming in less than you were during your first phase in your Relief Phase where most people are coming in once per week or more. This phase is usually much longer than the Relief Phase, as we are often not only correcting faulty movement patterns that have become muscle memory, but also rewriting new, more optimal patterns. The Restore Phase will likely be between 4-12 weeks, depending on the severity of your discomfort and the length of time your movement patterns have been less than optimal. To help you reoptimize your movement patterns, this will also be where we will discuss specific stretches and at home exercises to stabilize, balance, and strengthen your body’s movement patterns to compliment your adjustments to help facilitate your journey to health and wellness.

Some supplements that might be recommended during the Restore Phase might include turmeric to help combat inflammation, a multi-vitamin to help provide your body with the necessary nutrients it needs to function at its best, our joint health supplement “Chondro-Flx” to provide your joints with Chondroitin and Glucosamine, and Collagen to help support your body’s tissue healing and repair. We will have more specific posts about these supplements in upcoming blog posts.

We want to help walk with you in your health and wellness journey. Join us weekly for more health and wellness tips and education as you journey together through life’s great challenges and experiences.
